An estimated 35,000 devotees to the miraculous Nuestra Senora Virgen del Rosario flocked to Orani, Bataan yesterday, in celebration of the saint’s feast day.
What particularly called the attention of Orani folks are the 32 bands, some of which were plucked from different municipalities of Bataan to perform in Orani fiesta courtesy of businessman Jon Arizapa. The kilometric parade of bands led by officials on the town’s main thoroughfares temporarily affected the flow of vehicular traffic in the area not to mention the ubiquitous vendors that lined up the town’s main road.
The feast of the Holy Rosary which falls on second Sunday of October is known in Central Luzon as the most popular religious event drawing devotees from nearby provinces of Pampanga, Bulacan, Zambales and even Metro Manila.
Former Board Member Godofredo Galicia, Jr. said the outpouring of devotees was beyond expectation considering the inclement weather. As in the past town fiesta of Orani, the devotees continued to venerate the miraculous Holy Rosary. Thousands pay tribute to the miraculous image of Senora Virgen del Rosario from as far the northern provinces. “Pumapangalawa ito sa Manaoag, Pangasinan na dinarayo din ng ating mga kababayan,” Galicia said.
